       DO THE RIGHT THING
Words & Music By Lori White - ©2009

We’re in the battle for the Soul of America -

We the people expect the best,
We work hard and try to pay our debts,
We worship God and offer charity,
That choice is OUR responsibility.
Oh God, we know our Nation is good,
But where is our Brotherhood?.
To do the right thing.

We’re  the Keepers of Liberty,
The U.S. Government works for Me!
I break the law I pay the penalty.
My Family’s sacred just let us be.
It’s not about the left or the right, but what’s wrong and what’s right,
To do the right thing!

We’ve got to do the right thing,
With Courage and Honesty,
With Thrift and Humility,
With Hope and Sincerity.
Oh God, we can get out of this rut
If we just think with our gut
And do the right thing!

Our Nation’s money says “In God We Trust”
Common sense should be our thrust
We have to put our differences aside
And let God’s Truth be our guide.
Stand up, and let us reunite and tell our leaders what’s right
To do the right thing!

We’ve got to do the right thing,
We’ve got to standup and sing!
Embrace our country or leave,
Standup for what we believe.
Oh God, we can get out of this rut
If we just think with our gut
And do the right thing!

Our Founding Fathers sure put up a fight and they gave us the right to do the right thing
Together we can make our future strong if we can choose right from wrong and do the right thinG
C’mon let’s do the right thing, Cmon and do the right, We gotta do the right thing……….

    HOLD ME CLOSE AMERICA
Music by Lori and Gene White - Words Lori White
©2001 Gene T. White Music Publishing (ASCAP)

America, Do you know how much I love you?!
‘Cause from the first day of my birth
I fell into the safe keeping,
Of the Greatest Place on Earth.

Hold me close, America,
Close so I can see –
All the things you are all about,
And what you are to me:
Justice ringing with liberty,
All the freedoms you give to me.
Hold me close, America,
‘Cause you mean the world to me.

We are free to speak as we please,
Free to worship God on our knees,
Free to vote against tyranny and more, so much more.

We are free to move throughout the land,
And live the dreams that make our life grand,
We offer those who suffer a helpin’ hand –
That’s America and so much more.

So, Hold me close, America,
Close so I can see –
All the things you are all about,
And what you are to me:
Justice ringing with liberty,
All the freedoms you give to me.
Hold me close, America,
‘Cause you mean the world to me.

Let's raise up our voices for those who serve.
Who walk the fire with iron nerve
To keep us free- so we'll remain free.

So, Hold them close, America,
They risk their lives for you,
Men and women protecting us –
Our red, white, and blue.
Some have died to sustain our peace,
Battle cries pray for Victory!
Hold them close, America,
‘Cause freedom is  not free
No! So hold them close,
Hold them close America
To me America means: We The People!

           CUP OF LIBERTY
           (You Represent Me!)
Words & Music By Lori White ©2009

Now you’re too high and mighty,
To listen to little ol’ me,
I’m screamin’ from the mountain tops,
But I’m too small to see.
Now, I’m nobody famous, I’m no celebrity,
So, I’m using all the gifts I have my Maker gave to me.
I’ve got a lot to say, so listen carefully
Have a cup of Liberty you represent me!

You represent me Mr. President, Senators,
and House of Representatives.
What does that mean?
It means you listen to my wishes,
and you vote on laws the way you promised me.
Don’t lie to me!

Now, I said “NO! to the bailouts,
Your Stimulus stimulates none
Your pork is like a porcupine stinging everyone
Now you’re stealin’ from our children generations to come,
Do We the People benefit? No! Not a single one!
Yes, I’ve got a lot to say, so listen carefully
Have a cup of Liberty you represent me!

You represent me Mr. President, Senators,
and House of Representatives
What does that mean?
It means if I don’t like the way you’re runnin’ things,
I’ll vote you out just wait and see! Don’t Tred On Me!

Now you are probably thinkin’ who’ this no name’s gotta be,
Well, I am one of millions who puts their trust in thee!
Our country means so much to us its spirit and liberty
We don’t want your socialism, Independence keeps us free!
Yes, I’ve got a lot to say, so listen carefully.
Have a cup of Liberty you represent me!

Dialogue:
The tea we prefer to drink is Liberty sweetened with Justice For All and  loaded with Patriotism!  The People of America are tired of being ignored. We’re mad!  We say No More Big Government Spending, tax increases, & exploding deficit. Get government under control man – You represent me!  This is an outrage! You’re assaulting Capitalism - the very foundation of America! You power grabbing irresponsible politicians are milking your 10 trillion dollar debt…and it’s growing!  You represent me! We want to be involved in your decision making, but instead of listening to the People of America, you’ll just add it to our tab and our children’s tab and our grandchildren’s tab and where’s the media? God help us all . You represent US!

Yes I’ve got a lot to say so please listen carefully..Have a cup of Liberty you represent me, you represent me, you represent me, you represent me. -You Represent Me!

                  MR. TWEETS
(I Cannot Live Without My Freedom)
Words & Music By Lori White  ©2009

A tiny mourning dove taught me a lesson,
He was wounded and I called him Mr. Tweets.
I tried my best to nurse him back to flying,
But that was not the way it was to be.
In his final try to reach the heavens,
He gave it all he had before his fall,
He died in my hands I said “Mr. Tweets I understand
That freedom’s the best gift of all”.

Oh, I cannot live without my freedom,
I cannot live if I can’t fly,
If I cannot choose my destination,
Just put me on a perch and let me die.
I feel that way about America,
It’s the land where I can reach the skies,
Please let me sing and spread my wings,
Give me liberty or I shall die.

Dialogue:
Now you nice folks might think this is a cute song about a little bird who dies for his freedom because he could no longer fly- and it is. But, it inspired a genuine plea to grasp the hearts, the souls, and the minds of Americans. For we are losing our country as we’ve known it -full of Freedom, Free Enterprise & Blessed Liberty. And it’s happening right before our eyes while most of us are just too busy to notice – because we’re too busy being free! Mr. Tweets is a true story, like America at its very best! Free to fly, to create, to spread our wings & try our best to reach our dreams.America cherish your freedom, hold it close to your heart, standup & fight for it, even die for it, because it can be taken away in a split second.

Please feel free to sing along with me:
Oh, I cannot live without my freedom,
I cannot live if I can’t fly,
If I cannot choose my destination,
Just put me on a perch and let me die.
I feel that way about America,
It’s the land where I can reach the skies,
Please let me sing and spread my wings,
Give me liberty or I shall die,
Give me liberty or I shall die.

              For Our 20 Year Anniversary

What a grueling week we’ve had, man we’ve had our fill.
Workin’ endless hours, baby, for that dollar bill.
Now we’re safe at home, leave the world outside
In each other’s lovin’ arms, we’re just gonna hide.

Let’s Co-coon & howl at the moon,
Just me and you let’s co-coon.
C C-O-C-O-O-N,   C-O-C-O-O-N,   C-O-C-O-O-N,

We’ll call out for groceries, gonna vegetate.
No one else will see our faces, gonna hibernate.
There’s no time for e-mails, we’ll turn off the phone
We’ll enjoy our paradise, now that we’re alone.

Let’s Co-coon & howl at the moon,
Just me and you let’s co-coon.
C C-O-C-O-O-N,   C-O-C-O-O-N,   C-O-C-O-O-N,

We don’t have a plane to catch, but we’re gonna fly.
We’ll sit in our own backyard, gaze up to the skies.
We don’t need the tropics or a mountain high,
There is more adventure baby in each other’s eyes.

Let’s Co-coon & howl at the moon,
Just me and you let’s co-coon.
C C-O-C-O-O-N,   C-O-C-O-O-N,   C-O-C-O-O-N,
(Audience keeps repeating C-O-C-O-O-N,)

Lead vocal ad libs over background voices

                IN A HEARTBEAT
Words and Music by Lori White ©2006
Written for my nephew Marine Gunnery Seargent
                     Douglas Dickover

I know a soldier who is dear to me
He wrote a letter for my eyes to see.
He’s proud to serve he’s a Marine’s Marine!
But really worries ‘bout his family.
Poured out his heart: here’s the words he wrote to me.

I’d be there in a heartbeat!
I’d hold you in my arms,
I’d be there in a heartbeat!
But, I’m here, to keep you safe from harm.

His sister’s baby due just any day
He would be there, but to his dismay.
There is a war and he’s in the frey.
He wouldn’t have it any other way.
Before delivery here’s the words she’ll hear him say.

I’d be there in a heartbeat!
I’d hold you in my arms,
I’d be there in a heartbeat!
But, I’m here, to keep you all safe from harm.

He said his Mom just had a hip replaced.
He couldn’t be there, was it a disgrace?
To ease her pain and see her lovely face.
And show he loved her with a warm embrace.
Instead he said these words before her surgery.

I’d be there in a heartbeat!
I’d hold you in my arms,
I’d be there in a heartbeat!
But, I’m here, to keep you all safe from harm.

He’s got a girl back home who’s waiting there.
With sparkling eyes and flowing wavy hair.
The wedding day is set within a prayer.
That he will make it back to make a pair!

He says: I’ll be there in a heartbeat!
And I’ll hold you in my arms,
Yeah, I’ll be there in a heartbeat!
I‘ll be there, to keep you all safe from harm (repeat 2x’s)...I’ll be there in a heartbeat!

             IT’S D.C. OR BUST
(Yes! In God We Trust !)
Words & Music By Lori White ©2009

For those who sleep well, I’m glad you can.
But there’s somethin’ brewin’ in this blessed land
And it wakes me up in the deep within the night,
And I pray to God it’s a peaceful fight.

We’re marchin’ to D.C.now, it won’t be long.
We’re comin’ fearless, we’re comin’ strong!
We plan to change our nation’s fate.
And save the Constitution of the United States.

Yes! We’re all Fed up, and we’re packin’ now
‘Cause it’s on our shore and it’s on our brow.
And it fuels the fire in our heart’s disgust.
So, we come to you, Lord, ‘cause in God we trust.

Yes, in God we trust and we’re on our knees,
As we pray to you that our Liberty
Handed down by you won’t be swept away,
Yes, in God we trust, it’s D.C. or Bust!

All their greed and corruption has got to end.
Our leaders think they are free to spend
All our hard earned dollars for their selfish schemes.
They’re destroying America ,
And they’re destroying our dreams.

So, we’re gatherin’ up our neighbors, family and friends.
To tell this administration, this had got to end.
And listen to the people who voted them in.
We’re marchin’ to D.C. now, let the surge begin.

Yes, in God we trust and we’re on our knees,
As we pray to you that our Liberty
Handed down by you won’t be swept away,
Yes, In God we trust, It’s D.C. or Bust!
Yes, In God we trust, It’s D.C. or Bust!
Yes, In God we trust, It’s D.C. or Bust!
It's D.C. or Bust, Yes In God we trust! It’s D.C. or Bust!

                     GOD IS HOME
Words & Music By Lori White -  ©2008

So many people are wearing frowns.
It seems that the world is crashing down.
But please understand we’re never alone
For God is within us, and God is home.

We all wonder why life has to be so hard.
Why do people suffer?  We’re all on guard.
But if we’d abandon our fearful roam
We’d find God within us, and God is home.

God always forgives our sins and lies.
His loves everlasting it never dies.
So, come out of your darkness and wear no disguise.
God offers salvation and Eternal life - Yes! Eternal life

No sum of money can buy His paradise
You’ll face each morning with brand new eyes
Though life is a challenge, we’re never alone
For God is within us, and God is home.
Trust & surrender, for God is home.

    THE SLEEPING GIANT’S AWAKE
             (It’s We the People!)
Words & Music by Lori White ©2009

Now you’ve gone and done it-
You've dished out more than we can take.
You’ve blocked out our concerns,
When we tried to communicate.
The endless calls and letters we’ve written until we ache
We’ve had enough and now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake.

Yes, it’s WE THE PEOPLE,  Do you feel the thunder?
D.C. is really gonna shake,
‘Cause now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake

We’re talkin’ ‘bout the People of these United States
It’s a grassroots effort, so Congress make no mistake.
How dare you even say that we are all just fakes
Don’t lie to us, We seek the truth,
The Sleepin’ Giant’s awake.

Yes, it’s WE THE PEOPLE,  Do you feel the thunder?
D.C. is really gonna shake ,
‘Cause now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake

Our President says ”lower the volume!
And listen to each other” - take my lead.
But now that we have got your attention
Read The Bills and lower the speed!

We have legitimate questions, so let us partake.
We’ll listen to you if you just put on the brakes.
We’re not given up when there is so much is at stake,
We’ll fight our way thru Hell and back
The Sleepin’ Giant’s awake.

Yes, it’s WE THE PEOPLE,  Do you feel the thunder?
D.C. is really gonna shake ,
‘Cause now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake

This is not just about Healthcare
Ao hear our voices hear our shouts!
We opposed the stimulus package,
increased taxes, and the Bailouts!
The government’s stealin’ our freedom!
That’s what this is all about
It’s our Constitutional right - Free Speech
This is America speakin’ out!

Yes, it’s WE THE PEOPLE,  Do you feel the thunder?
D.C. is really gonna shake ,
‘Cause now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake

Yes, D.C. is really gonna shake ,
‘Cause now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake
Oh, D.C. is really gonna shake ,
‘Cause now the Sleepin’ Giant’s awake

               PINK CLOUD OF OBAMA
                      (In Memory of 9-11)
Words & Music by Lori White ©2008

You who are floating on the “pink cloud” of Obama,
Need to remember the dark clouds of not so long ago.
People were running for their lives on the streets of New York City,
Loved ones were blown from the towers into rubble down below.

It was here on our soil, It was here on our land,
They hijacked America, America, get your head out of the sand.

You who are floating on the “pink cloud” of Obama,
Remember our promise that our people didn’t die in vain.
It could happen again – be aware of who’s crossing our borders
If we live in apathy then we’re the ones to blame

It was here on our soil, It was here on our land,
They hijacked America, America, please get your head out of the sand.

You who are floating on the “pink cloud” of Obama,   OH NO!
WAKE UP AND remember the dark clouds of not so long ago.

      NO MORE BAD NEWS
Words & Music By Lori White  ©2009

Attention! Listen Up!!
Please! No more bad news!
Our country’s on the brink.
Catastrophes from left and right,
Your anchors really stink!
The phony airs of dashing men,
And lip glossed, cleavage dolls,
Who fill our screens and run around, your noisy newsroom halls.
Please no more bad news. We’re tired of bad news!

My husband listens to the news just about twenty-four-seven.
He’d probably rather go to Hell if there isn’t news in Heaven!
What happened to the polished few who sat behind a desk?
For now they stand, they bend, they stretch, its borderline burlesque!

Please no more bad news!
When will you get it right?
We miss the straight talk news of Jennings, Coppell, and Cronkite.
‘Cause now you’re trying to reshape policy, that’s so uncouth!
Where is the media we entrusted, do you speak the truth?
Please no more bad news. We’re tired of bad news!

My husband wonders why I have such worry on my complexion.
What ever happened to good ol’ news delivered with perfection?
Where is the honest, simple news we used to hold so dear?
For now it reeks, it pounds, it boils, it breathes and lives off fear!

Please, no more bad news!
What happened to the press?
The media thinks they own our country, they’ve made it a mess!
Stop trying to sway all our decisions, we all do have brains!
Report the news- ALL OF IT PLEASE before we go insane!
Please no more bad news! We’re tired of bad news.

Turn off those power hungry imbeciles!
Go take a walk, or eat an ice cream cone,
Just skip the news today and spend time with your family alone!
TURN ‘EM OFF!

       HUNKERIN’ DOWN
Words & Music By Lori White  ©2009

I hung some clothes out on the line today,
and I said “Oh, Lord, what a pretty day”
Then, my neighbor asked me “Is your dryer broke?” And I  “No sir we are”.

The work is scarce and the times are lean,
We‘re eatin’ taters, rice & beans,
The sun is crankin’ a hundred and ten,
The Car A/C/s broke, so we just stay in.

Yes, we’re flat tired, we’re flat broke,
Our credit history’s gone up in smoke.
This whole darn world’s turned upside down
But, we’re at war so we’re hunkerin’ down
Yes, we’re at war, so we’re hunkerin’ down.

Have you forgotten on another shore
Our Troops are fighting a brutal war?
Defendin’ America and takin’ the heat
If I were there, I’d kiss their feet!

Our Troops and Veterans sure make us proud.
It’s time to voice our, thanks out loud!
For their dedication and sacrifice.
Pray for our Troops, who pay the price.

Yes, we’re flat tired, we’re flat broke,
Our credit history’s gone up in smoke.
This whole darn world’s turned upside down
But, we’re at war and we’re hunkerin’ down
Yes, we’re at war, so we’re hunkerin’ down
Think of our Troops and start hunkerin’ down.

THE STAR-SPANGLED BANNER
           Lyrics-Francis Scott Key1814  -
           Music-John Stafford Smith
                Under Public Domain

                      Oh, say, can  you  see,
                      By the dawn's early light,
                    What so proudly we hail'd
                  At the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
                      Thro' the perilous fight,
                  O'er the ramparts we watch'd,
                   Were so gallantly streaming.
                     And the rockets' red glare,
                     The bombs bursting in air,
                      Gave proof thro' the night,
That our flag was still there.
                    O say, does that Star-Spangled
                               Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
And the home of the brave?

THE TRUTH WILL KEEP US FREE
Words & Music by Lori White ©2009

Such burdens weigh upon the hearts of America
We feel our freedom is at stake.
We march in millions on the streets of America
This is our path, make no mistake.

No new taxes!   Fire the czars!    Stop corruption!    Lie no more!

The Truth Will Keep Us Free!
We march for liberty.
Shoulder to shoulder-steady stream.
Eyes glistening- The Truth Will Keep Us Free!
When you have the truth you have the power.
We will never stray and never cower. Amen!

Stop the bailouts!   Help our Troops!   Secure the borders!   Tell the truth!

Greed and corruption must end.
Our Constitution we’ll defend.
We march as one in unity.
Eyes glistening- The Truth Will Keep Us Free!
When you have the truth you have the power.
We will never stray and never cower. Amen!

DEAR GOD WE’RE PRAYING FOR AMERICA!

It’s "We The People" we all cry for America
All ages, colors, here our voice.
We feel betrayed by those who promised to lead us.
We’ll vote you out- that is our choice.

Stop pork spending! Read the bills! Clean up Congress! 'Cause we are here!

We won’t be silenced, you will see.
We stand for truth and decency.
We’re watching your hypocrisy.
Eyes glistening- The Truth Will Keep Us Free!
When you have the truth you have God’s Power.
We will never stray and never cower. Amen.... Amen!

                       MY MOTHER’S HANDS
Composed By Lori White © 2009

My Mother’s hands were always safe & warm
when I needed my tears wiped away,
My Mother’s hands created lovely songs
when she touched her piano to play.
My Mother’s hands could curl my shiny locks
with the twist of her sweet fingertips,
My Mother’s hands would always cheer me on
if I ran in a race or I’d slip.
She was so grand, how I remember my Mother’s hands.

My Mother’s hands could knead a loaf of bread
and flute a pie crust in one sweep,
My Mother’s hands quietly cleaned the house
while we were in bed fast asleep.
My Mother’s hands could mow & edge the lawn
& make all the flowers come to bloom.
My Mother’s hands could feed a room of kids
& smile though there wasn’t much food.
She was so grand, I learned a lot from my Mother’s hands.

She taught me about America,
She’d fly the flag so high in the sky!
She said we’re free to fulfill our dreams
Because of soldiers who fought & who died,
I’d wipe her eyes, you see the flag always caused her to cry.

My Mother’s hands later in life were knarled,
arthritis had stepped in the way.
My Mother’s hands she’d hold close to her heart
when she’d sing and devotingly pray.
My Mother’s hands would wrap around my back
when I bent down to hug her goodnight.
My Mother’s hands could soothe me right away
and make me feel we’d be all right.
She was so grand, oh, how I loved my Mother’s hands.

Yes, she taught me about America!
She would be rooting us on here today!
She gave me her passion for liberty
and a freedom we must not betray.
She was so grand, I sure miss my Mother’s hands.
Ma loved this land, and I can still feel my Mother’s hands.
